Canon RF 16mm f2.8 STM review

I was very curious to take a closer look at the super-compact and super-wide Canon RF 16mm f2.8 STM. And now, thanks to the store abc photo I have such an opportunity.

I did tests (photos and videos) and compared this lens with others, namely with Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8L III, Laowa 14mm f4 Zero-D и Pergear 10mm f8 FishEye. All of these lenses have reviews on my YouTube channel.

As for Canon RF 16mm f2.8 STM, then its jamb consists in a huge distortion. If you watch RAW files from this lens, then it looks more like fishyethan wide-angle.

But after the corrections (which the camera makes automatically), you won't even guess about it. The truth is revealed only when raw files are processed in the editor. This is a payment for compactness and relatively low price.

The STM autofocus motor is quiet and fast - no issues with it.

I can recommend this lens to most photographers and videographers, despite the fishery nuance. In practice, he shows himself very well.

Fujifilm XF 18mm f / 1.4 R LM WR wide-angle review

Fujinon XF 18mm f / 1.4 R LM WR - Medium wide angle crop lens from Fujifilm.

Angle of view 18mm on crop corresponds to 27mm on full frame... This is a comfortable focal length. You will almost always have everything in the frame, while the corners will not stretch too much, as is the case on wider lenses.

At the same time, the lens has a very high aperture of f1.4, which will allow you to shoot in almost any lighting conditions without using a tripod. Although I personally still insist on tripod for landscape photography.

The combination of 18mm angle of view and f1.4 aperture results in a fairly large depth of field despite f1.4. If you are shooting a landscape, everything will be sharp. If you still want to achieve the effect hips, then it is worth shooting large - from a distance of up to half a meter.

The Fujifilm XF 18mm f / 1.4 R LM WR lens has a wide range of applications. It is useful for any kind of shooting indoors, outdoors, video filming on a steadicam, street photography, and can be used as a webcam on a table. There are a lot of options.

Outwardly, this is a medium-sized lens weighing 390g.

The Fujifilm X-S10 sits organically on the camera. It is not felt in the bag by weight.

Autofocus is fast and barely audible. On video, focus is also excellent. Fujifilm XF 18mm f / 1.4 can be safely recommended to videographers.

The lens has excellent sharpness. Covering the aperture is not for the sake of improving image quality, but for controlling the depth of field. Chromatics are practically absent, which is very pleasant for a fast wide-angle lens.

Laowa 14mm f4 Zero-D Dreamer review

Laowa 14mm f / 4 FF RL Zero-D lens (Canon R) from Venus Optics is a super-compact ultra-wide angle lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. You can't attach it to a DSLR, I say right away :) Produced for Canon, Nikon, Sony mirrorless cameras.

The lens weighs only about 260 grams. Focusing is completely manual, as well as aperture control. There are no contacts with the camera.

The lens is made of metal and glass, there is no plastic. Has a built-in lens hood that prevents the use of light filters. If desired, filters can still be installed, but inconvenient. Thread diameter 52mm.

Optically good. The main drawback is vignetting, which doesn't come with closing the aperture. The edges will always be darkened, which can be easily corrected in the editor. The sharpness is very good, there are no chromatic aberrations. The distortion is minimal, almost imperceptible.

All in all, highly recommend for travel photographers. For shooting landscapes - it is. This is an unusually light lens that still delivers excellent image quality. Can also be used in interior, wedding and reportage photography.
